Amish Hamburger Steak Bake is a hearty oven-baked dish with seasoned ground beef patties, savory gravy, and tender onions — perfect for family dinners and comfort food lovers.
1½ lbs ground beef
½ cup breadcrumbs or rolled oats
1 egg
¼ cup milk
½ finely chopped onion
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
1 tsp dried parsley
For the gravy:
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
½ cup milk or broth
OR: 2 tbsp butter, 2 tbsp flour, 2 cups beef broth (for homemade)
Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a bowl, mix beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, onion, and seasonings.
Form 6–8 oval patties and place in the baking dish.
Mix gravy ingredients and pour over patties.
Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake 15–20 minutes more.
Let rest before serving. Spoon gravy over each portion.
Add cheese, mushrooms, or veggies to customize.
Use ground turkey for a lighter version.
Serve with mashed potatoes or noodles.
