Crispy hard taco shells filled with seasoned beef and melted cheese, baked in the oven for a golden and flavorful taco night favorite.
12 hard taco shells
1 pound ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning or 2 tablespoons homemade seasoning
1 half cup tomato sauce or salsa
2 cups shredded cheddar or Mexican cheese blend
Optional toppings lettuce tomatoes sour cream jalapeños
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a baking dish.
Brown ground beef in a skillet and drain excess grease.
Stir in taco seasoning and tomato sauce and simmer briefly.
Arrange taco shells upright in baking dish.
Fill shells with meat mixture and top with cheese.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes until cheese melts and shells crisp.
Remove from oven and add desired toppings before serving.
Do not overfill shells to prevent cracking. Bake just until cheese melts for best texture. Serve immediately for maximum crispness.
