Crispy hard taco shells filled with seasoned beef and melted cheese, baked in the oven for a golden and flavorful taco night favorite.

12 hard taco shells
1 pound ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning or 2 tablespoons homemade seasoning
1 half cup tomato sauce or salsa
2 cups shredded cheddar or Mexican cheese blend
Optional toppings lettuce tomatoes sour cream jalapeños

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a baking dish.

  • Brown ground beef in a skillet and drain excess grease.

  • Stir in taco seasoning and tomato sauce and simmer briefly.

  • Arrange taco shells upright in baking dish.

  • Fill shells with meat mixture and top with cheese.

  • Bake 8 to 10 minutes until cheese melts and shells crisp.

  • Remove from oven and add desired toppings before serving.

Notes

Do not overfill shells to prevent cracking. Bake just until cheese melts for best texture. Serve immediately for maximum crispness.
