This easy beef and broccoli stir-fry is a quick, flavorful dinner packed with tender beef, crisp broccoli, and a glossy, savory sauce. Better than takeout in just 30 minutes.
1 lb flank or sirloin steak, thinly sliced against the grain
2 cups broccoli florets
2 tablespoons soy sauce (for marinade)
1 teaspoon sesame oil (for marinade)
1 teaspoon cornstarch (for marinade)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
For the sauce:
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
¼ cup water
1 teaspoon cornstarch
½ teaspoon sesame oil
Marinate sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil for 15–20 minutes.
Whisk sauce ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
Blanch broccoli in boiling water for 1–2 minutes, then drain and set aside.
Heat oil in a wok or skillet over high heat. Sear beef in batches until just cooked. Remove from pan.
Add garlic and ginger to pan and stir-fry briefly until fragrant.
Return beef and broccoli to pan. Pour in the sauce and stir until thickened and glossy.
Finish with a drizzle of sesame oil. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
Substitute tofu for a vegetarian version
Add bell peppers or snap peas for extra crunch
