A cozy, layered casserole of ground beef, potatoes, onions, and creamy mushroom sauce topped with melted cheese. Easy, budget-friendly, and ultra-comforting.
1 lb ground beef
4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
1 medium onion, sliced
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
½ cup milk
1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: ½ cup sour cream, extra herbs, or vegetables
Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
Brown ground beef in a skillet with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Drain.
In a bowl, mix soup, milk, and optional sour cream.
Layer half the potatoes, half the onions, all the beef, half the soup mix.
Add remaining potatoes, onions, soup mix, and top with cheese.
Cover with foil and bake for 60 minutes. Remove foil and bake 15–20 more minutes until golden and bubbly.
Let rest 10 minutes before serving.
